The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Protecting Crops and the Environment
Tala is currently pursuing a PhD as part of a joint project between Rothamsted Research and the University of Greenwich, under the UK Food Systems Centre for Doctoral Training (UKFS-CDT) program. Fully based within the Weed Molecular Biology Group at Rothamsted, her work contributes to a broader interdisciplinary initiative aimed at advancing a healthier and more sustainable food future.
Her research investigates the molecular and physiological responses of wheat and blackgrass to drought stress. By combining weather forecasting data with controlled drought experiments, she aims to identify key traits associated with drought tolerance. This work supports the development of more resilient wheat varieties and contributes to the long-term sustainability of agricultural systems in the face of climate change.
